Auto-Recharge & Budget Alerts
ModelHive's budget management ensures your API keys never unexpectedly stop working. Two complementary features work together to keep your services running.
Auto-Recharge
When an API key's remaining budget drops below a threshold, ModelHive automatically transfers funds from your tenant wallet to refill the key — no manual intervention needed.
Configuration
Enable auto-recharge on any API key from the ModelHive Dashboard → API Keys → Edit Key:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Recharge Threshold | Trigger when remaining budget drops below this amount |
| Recharge Amount | Amount to transfer from wallet when triggered |
Built-in Safeguards
- Only triggers if the wallet has sufficient funds
- Prevents duplicate recharges from rapid-fire events
- Every recharge is logged as a wallet transaction
- Skipped if the key was already topped up manually
Budget Alerts
Receive email notifications when a key's spending approaches its budget limit, so you can take action before it runs out.
Configuration
Enable budget alerts from the ModelHive Dashboard → API Keys → Edit Key. Set the alert threshold percentage to receive notifications when spending approaches the limit.
Best Practices
| Scenario | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Production keys | Enable both auto-recharge (high amount) + alerts for maximum uptime |
| Staging/test keys | Alerts only — don't auto-spend on non-production |
| Cost-conscious | Small, frequent recharges to minimize capital commitment |
For maximum reliability, combine auto-recharge with budget alerts. If auto-recharge fails (e.g., empty wallet), you'll still get the email alert to take manual action.
